November 3/2004

The fishing on the Waterhen river remains hot as most anglers are still catching their limits of walleye in no time! The odd walleye in the 28-32 inch bracket are also still being caught.

Not only is the fishing still great, but the abundance of mallards and canada geese still in the area is incredable due to the warmer fall we have witnessed so far.

2."Waterfowl update-August 26/2004"
As the waterfowl season is only 1 month away, early scouting trips are indicating it loooks to be another great fall! The hatch seemed excellent as many hens had 2 hatches.Water levels are aproximately 12 inches higher than last year as accessing more areas will be better for puddle ducks on the rivers. The local canada geese are starting to fly constantly back and forth over the lodge also reminding us fall is in the air.For all non-guided bird hunters staying at the lodge and hunting the rivers, just a quick reminder, running 14-16' boats with nothing bigger than a 25 hp short shaft motor will be excellent due to the higher water levels .However,on the big water such as Waterhen Lake and Lake Manitoba, nothng smaller than a 16' and a motor 25 hp and up will be much better for divers(canvasbacks, redheads and bluebills). Please call us toll free 1-888-468-3394 for additional information as the waterfowl season approaches.Looking forward to seeing and hunting with you all this fall!

The fishing on the Waterhen River this spring has been unbelievable!! All guests staying at the lodge are experiencing world class walleye fishing. Many fish in the 24" - 29" class are also being caught. For more information, please call the Lodge at 1-204-628-349.

This spring, good friends and avid deer hunters of ours,Tom "Shorty" Mcfarlane,MN; Ron Stevens,SC; and Ned Meeham,VT had the chance to get away from their busy schedules back home,to do some whitetail scouting and shed hunting with myself.

Although the snow still covered alot of the ground,we still managed to find a few good sheds from deer that would gross in the 160-180 b+c class. We also found little sheds from young bucks with great potential.Throughout the day,we were seeing around 80+ deer a day and found lots of big rubs and scrapes from the previous fall in areas that have never been hunted! Will be another banner fall
