Hope everyone is doing well. It’s been awhile since I have updated our “meet the hosts” page as we have been extremely busy with the lodge and our family. We are pleased to say we have finally relocated to be closer to our lodge. We know call Swan River our home and absolutely love it!! We are all doing excellent and the boys have adjusted extremely well and very excited that they are closer to lodge. “Hunter”, “Tracker” and even Nigel say they too enjoy not having to endure the long truck rides they had to suffer every spring and fall!! Life is great!!!, But we do of course miss all our friends back home, which is the hard part, and especially you “SPARKY”!!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one who visited our lodge this past 2007 Season and we look forward to seeing you all again during our 2008 Season.
We had an incredible and extremely busy 2007 Season. All who visit the lodge can see the ongoing upgrades that continue each and every year to make your stay and visit to our lodge as enjoyable and memorable as possible. It is amazing since we opened our Seasonal Restaurant 6 years ago, to see the local support during our summer season. New novelty machines have been added in the main lodge for your “summer time treats”. Seasonal camping in our campground is becoming more popular and it is great to see our fishing on the Waterhen River System remain “World Class” and the best its been in years, hence a report that was put our by our local Winnipeg Free Press that “our” Waterhen River is rated the most “EXCELLENT” in the province for the less phosphates and pollution!!
Our fishing derby and pig roast this past August long weekend, once again proved to be popular and a huge success!! Congratulations to everyone who won in the Adult/Kid categories. We thank everyone who was able to attend this fulfilled weekend and are grateful to our family and friends who make the long trip up to spend the weekend and help out in any way they can, we appreciate it!!! Our August Long weekend once again saw 500+ people through out the derby and pig roast. We had a country/western theme and had a real “yeehawing” time and as everyone knows “I especially had a good time and am still hearing about it”!! Make sure to check out our Agassiz News for the dates for 2008 and what the “theme” will be!!
I will be adding a recipe page this year, as requested by many of our guests. If there is a favorite dish that you would like to see, please let me know. Even some of the guys like to cook their favorite appetizers, which is always awesome and ya gotta love the famous “Jadlocki Cinnamon Whiskey””!!
For the 2008 Spring Black Bear Season we are pleased to be having Bob Kaletta of Zeiss Optics, and respected and well known outdoor writer/and TV host of 30+ years, Larry Wiersham . Also for our 2008 Waterfowl Season we are pleased to have once again Dennis Anderson, well known waterfowl outdoor writer for the Minneapolis/St.Paul Star Tribune. We are excited to have the opportunity to host all of you and look forward to seeing you this 2008 Season.
While at "The Lodge" you will experience home cooking at it’s finest with our own specialty dishes being prepared, which is requested by all year after year. For the Outdoorsman/Outdoorswoman who treasure the outdoors, few things are as memorable as a hunting/fishing vacation in Canada’s North. At Agassiz-Waterhen we will work our hardest to assure you a memorable and everlasting experience. Many hunters/anglers have expressed that the real pleasure has come from the treasured memories of past hunts and anticipation of the next one. The magnificence of the early morning sunrise, the abundance of birds/wildlife and the comrade of fellow hunters leave a lasting impression that keeps them coming back for more.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2008.
Best Wishes and happy hunting and fishing to all,
Colleen Liske
