November 6, 2011With the 2011 fishing season behind us, we would like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone that came through our lodge during the spring, summer and fall fishing seasons. Although we had to endure the Lake Manitoba flood, the walleye fishing was absolutely incrediable and a record 300+ "Master Angler"(MA) walleye where caught, released and recorded at our lodge. That is only the ones we know of!!! Thank you to all guests who caught and released these breeding walleye, which will definetley help in the excellent future this fisherie has to offer. Some quick notes: We are pleased to be able to offer our guests next year, our brand new fish house which has BOTH hot and cold running water and lots of freezer space for your convienience. The "NEW" West Waterhen boat launch was just finally completed last week and turned out excellent. This is also very exciting news for the area and was way past due. Our main boat launch at the lodge was also re-done this past fall and will also be ready for the start of the 2012 fishing season. And last but not least, "Congratulations" to Mr. Bud Burger of Bemidji,MN for winning our annual walleye fishing derby with a monster which measured a whopping 33 inches. Congratulations once again Bud!!!! We hope everyone has a great winter and look forward to seeing all of our great guests during the 2012 fishing season!!! |
October 15, 2011It is only Saturday night, and since thursday, fishing guests have told us of 17 walleye they have caught and released over 28 inches. Congratulations to everyone catching these "Master Anglers"! The weather has been awesome for October and now is a great time to experience "World Class Fishing" on the historic Waterhen River system. Water levels remain high and boat launches are in excellent condition. Goodluck to everyone fishing tomorrow and lets top the 20 mark for "MA'S" this weekend. Also, all waterfowl hunters have been limiting out on both ducks and geese and please watch come December as i will have some awesome waterfowl reviews!! Rip some lips......Rick
October 9, 2011Fish and more fish!!!! Fishing remains hot on the West and Little Waterhen River's, as most guests are reporting catching limits in no time. Water temperature has gone up a little and now sits at 13 celcius as we enjoy an incrediable warm September/October. Fresh frozen jumbo "Lake Manitoba Shiners" are working best. Crankbaits are also working great. Happy fishing, Rick! September 29, 2011Since my last fishing update, another 37 walleye over 28 inches have been caught and released, bringing the total of "Master Angler" walleye to well over 200 since the start of our fishing season!! Lots of walleye in the 16-22 inch class are also making for some great fish frys. They are predicting a very warm October like September has been, and if they are right, all guests will see some more "World Class" fishing right till freeze up. Both rivers are hot and boat launches and water levels are excellent.
