Water temperature on both rivers has dropped to +2 celcius. Fishing remains hot however, the fish are not real agressive as earlier in the fall. Anglers who anchor over holes and jig lightly with frozen shinners are having great success. The lodge will remain open for the fall fishing until Sunday, October 25.
Fishing guides and boat rentals are still available until next Sunday too , as we then start to gear up for the 2009 deer season. This still leaves just over 1 week to still take advantage of some awesome fall fishing, and as every angler knows, a chance at catching walleye 28 plus inches is great this time of year.
Congratulations to long time guest Roland Mallot and friends on their master angler walleye yesterday that measured 28 , 28.5 and 29 inches! We would once again like to extend a big thank you to all our our valued fishing and camping guests that had the chance to visit us from all over North America this 2009 Season. We appreciate your business and thank you for another successful season.
We look forward to seeing everyone for the 2010 world class fishing season. Please remember that we are taking reservations already for the 2010 fishingécamping seasons.
Best Wishes and have a great Winter and a Wonderful Holiday Season, Rick, Colleen Brendan & Jordan Liske Agassiz-Waterhen River Lodge & Outfitters

The fishing for walleye, pike and perch are hot on both rivers. Frozen shiners, beef heart and power baits are all working great. Small wally divers and rapalas are working well too. Water temperature is still 20 celcius which should make for some great fishing right till freeze up, as it starts to cool off a bit. All boat lauches are in excellent shape. Excellent catches by all of our guests are making for some great fish frys! Campground and cabins are extremely busy so please call lodge for availability.

Fishing both Waterhen Rivers is excellent with limits of walleye being caught in no time. Big Walleye are starting to run and MA's are starting to be caught, either drifting/still fishing or trolling. All colors are working great with frozen minnows or beef heart. With the warm temperatures so far in september, its looks to be another banner fall for fishing which should last till freeze up. Fishing guides are available so please call the lodge for details.

Fishing on the West Waterhen River is absolutely amazing as all anglers are catching limits in no time. The Main Waterhen River is just starting to heat up and looks to be the same soon. Frozen minnows, night crawlers, beef heart and power bait are all working great either trolling or jigging. Walleye over 28 inches are being caught regularly. Please call the lodge at 628-3491 for your fall fishing reservations. Fishing guides, boat/ motor rentals, boat launching, modern cabins and serviced camping with shower facilities available. We look forward to seeing everyone for another world-class fall fishing season on the historic Waterhen Rivers
August 25/09
Fishing on both rivers is excellent. One river just before dark and the other pretty much all day. The bigger walleye are starting to run again as they start the fall run. Yesterday 4 walleye over 28 inches where recorded from our camp. All 4 where released. Frozen shinners, beef heart and power baits are all working best. Early indications show that the fishing in september and october should be world class just like past years. Please call the camp for daily updates.
August 10/2009
Fishing on the Main Waterhen River has slowed down a bit but anglers are still doing o.k. trolling slow or drifting with lindy rigs tipped with a night crawler, leech or berkley power bait. The West Waterhen River remains hot as most anglers are continuing to catch limits in no time trolling with a bottom bouncer and bright spinner tipped with beef heart or leeches. Anyone with a 12-16 foot aluminium boat with a 9.9 and up can fish this great fishery we have to offer. Boat launches too are all in top notch condition. It wont be long now as the fall fishing will start to heat up and get hot on both rivers. Congratulations to all the winners in the adult and kids categories as our 8th annual Fishing Derby/Horseshoe tournament/Pig Fest came and went. A big thank you to everyone who helped out and made the time to come out and support these events. Looking forward to next years already and hope to see you all real soon!

Latest fishing reports from guests fishing the West Waterhen River, is that it is hot, with limits being caught in no time. Congratulations to longtime and repeat guest, Bev Perchak from Central Manitoba for catching a 28" Walleye, using a chartreuse spinner tipped with green power bait. Chartreuse, green, silver and gold spinners tipped with a leech, nightcrawler, beef heart or power bait is still working the best. We look forward to seeing everyone this upcoming August Long Weekend for our 8th Annual Fishing Derby.

Un-settled weather the last couple of weeks has seen the fishing both hot and cold. Cold fronts with daytime hi's of 12-15C, with srong north winds has slowed fishing down from day to day, but working deeper holes is still paying off. Trolling real slow with bottom bouncers and sprinners tipped with a leech or nightcrawler is working best. Hammered Gold and flat silver spinners seem to be best right now. With that said, besides the cool weather, july has been a typical "july" for fishing. Knowing the river systems/lake and knowing how to fish it this time of year, fishing can still be un-real as witnessed and enjoyed by return guests, year after year. Remember, we also have the option for those that want to fish with our legendary guide and resident; Tony Lepere, available upon request. Tony has been guiding on our rivers for 50+ years and knows the rivers and history of the area better than anyone in the province. Please give us a couple days notice for his availability. Half day and full day rates available. The fishing is never slow when out with Tony!!

Water levels look to be high on both Waterhen Rivers for the start of the 2009 fishing season. The fishing on the Waterhen Rivers has been world class the last four years and we hope that 2009 remains the same. The fall fishing is heating up and getting hotter and hotter with each passing day. The last 4 years have been unreal on both rivers and this year looks to be no exception!
Lots of 20+ inch walleye and "Master Anglers" (28+ inch) are being caught. From now to freeze up this is the perfect time to catch a 28"+ walleye and qualify for the Travel Manitoba Master Angler Award Program (www.travelmanitoba.com). However, please remember to practice catch and release to these big breeders as they are very important to the future of this great fisheries. This time of year is the perfect time to enjoy the beautiful scenery as the leaves are now turning yellow, orange and red, and as we all know, winter is long enough, so getting out for that last memorable fishing trip to this historic part of the province is way worth it! Please call the lodge for daily reports and/or to reserve a cabin, boat or spot in our serviced campground.
P.S. Watch for nasty weather and heavy north winds as this usually shuts fishign down for 1-2 days.
August 8, 2008
Fishing for perch, pike and walleye are hot on both rivers. The best time on the east river is in the evening either jigging with a Waterhen Special or trolling with spinners tipped with a frozen minnow. The west river is hot pretty much all day and trolling with a spinner or drifting with a jig or Waterhen Special tipped with a leech or night crawler are working great.
Congratulations to all the winners last weekend in our 7th Annual Fishing Derby. We saw a record amount of entries and we saw over 600 people over the duration of the weekend come and go during the derby and pigroast!! A big thank-you to everyone who helped out during the weekend, fished in our derby and enjoyed our horshoe tournament & Pigroast!! Everyones support is greatly appreciated!! We look forward to our 8th Annual and hope to see everyone back again......

The fishing has not slowed down one bit as anglers are doing excellent trolling with spinners and bottom bouncers or drifting with waterhen specials tipped with a leech or nightcrawler. Reports of guests using lindy rigs tipped with small green frogs are working too. Also, it is a good idea to call the lodge for weather updates, strong north winds or heavy thunderstroms can slow the fishing down for a day or two. Remember only two more weeks until our Annual Fishing Derby on August 2, 2008. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.

"Happy Canada Day" everyone!! The walleye fishing remains hot on both rivers. Chartreusse and silver spinners or a combination of the two, tipped with a leech, seem to be working the best. Walleye over 28" are still being caught as well. As always, please phone the lodge for daily updates, or to reserve a cabin or a spot in our serviced campground @ 1-204-628-3491.

Rumor has it that a 39” Walleye was caught on the river last week by a local cottage owner. Local DNR authorities have confirmed this, however, I have never seen a picture so luckily DNR witnessed this monster walleye. Reports also say it was released. We thank all the fisherman that visited and supported our Lodge this 2007 Season and look forward to seeing all of you on the rivers/lake in 2008.
